A driverless future …
A few years from now self-driving cars will no longer be an unusual sight. Driver assistance technologies such as park assist, lane assist and distance warning systems are already standard in today’s premium vehicles. This trend is set to increase: In a few years we’ll be able to rely on autonomous systems in specific situations such as driving along certain stretches of highway or maneuvering into parking spaces.
As long-standing partners to the auto industry and steering technology specialists, we want to help actively shape the future of automated and autonomous mobility. That’s why our steering engineers are developing new steering solutions for self-driving vehicles. Above all they want to better understand the interfaces between the vehicle’s visual information sources and its steering systems and contribute to joint development projects with our customers. Several experimental vehicles have already been built and tested under real conditions on a test track.
